We are very lucky to have the opportunity to welcome the Rosa Ramblers from Oregon to start our 17th year of concerts off on a great footing. Bill Murlin has been performing folk music since the 1960s and has researched Woody Guthrie’s music of the Columbia River. In 1987 Bill published the Columbia River Collection of songs written by Woody Guthrie in May, 1941 in Portland, Oregon. Sandy Bly trained in classical voice and piano and in 1990 was introduced to traditional music. This early training helped her develop skills with many instruments including guitar, mandolin, bass, and occasionally fiddle, dobro and others. Sandy and Bill met through folk music, later married and have been folk music programmers on a Portland community radio station, as well as concert producers for the Portland Folk Music Society. Forming community through singing is one of Rosa Ramblers’ delights, so they encourage singing along. Please join us for this wonderful musical event.
