Our Expanding Solar System: Astronomy & Myth – Friday, July 28th, 6:30 – In preparation for our eclipse viewing in August, we have planned a couple of programs and speakers to help us prepare for and get excited about all things having to do with our solar system. On July 28th, Kelley Hunter will present her on talk on the many newly discovered planetoids in our far solar system. Many are named for indigenous creator gods and goddesses from around the world. This slide show will introduce many of them, getting us up to date with our new neighbors and their stories. We’ll also consider a different answer to the question: Is Pluto a planet? Coloring pages from the new Planetary Gods & Goddesses Coloring Book will be shared, with pencils and crayons on hand. Family-friendly. Kelley Hunter, Ph.D., is a longtime astrologer, mythologist and stargazer, who also enjoys visual and theater arts. She is the creator of the Planetary Gods & Goddesses Coloring Book. After 18 years in the Virgin Islands, showing star-struck visitors the tropical night sky, she is back living in Calais, Vermont.
