Vermont Automated Library System (VALS)

While the Deborah Rawson Memorial Library’s online catalog is not currently available on the web, you may search for titles, authors and subjects in any of the libraries in the state using the Vermont Automated Library System (VALS) at the Vermont Department of Libraries.

How to Search the VT Department of Libraries Catalog (VALS):

1. Go to the Online Catalog homepage: http://web2.dol.state.vt.us

2. Click on the Midstate button.

3. Select the Multiple Library Tab at the top and then choose whichever collections you wish to search. The Public Library Catalog is the collection that includes materials at DRML and also at the Homecard Libraries.

4. After entering your search terms you will get a list of the collections (i.e. DolCat, PubCat, etc.) or if you only search PubCat you will get a list of records matching your search. To find out who owns the book, look at the Holdings code, and then search the Public Library Holdings Code database. DRML's code is VSQG.

Please Note: You will still need to request Interlibrary Loans (ILLs) through this library. If you find the title nearby, you can certainly go to another HOMECARD Library and pick it up. Entries in PUBCAT (Public Library Catalogs) will not show if the book is checked in or out, so call the library ahead to confirm availability.

As always, the library staff does Interlibrary Loan searching and may be reached by phone (899-4962) when we're open or leave us a message on the answering machine.
