Jericho Energy Task Force Presents: Hometown Habitat – Thursday, May 16th at 7 PM
Once established, native plants don’t require the use of any chemicals or even extra watering and local birds and pollinators would rather visit them than visit artificial feeders. If you’d like to learn more about how to establish native plants in your yard, come to a free showing of Hometown Habitat – Stories of Bringing Nature Home.
Hometown Habitat is sponsored by the Jericho Conservation Commission and the Jericho Energy Task Force. The movie profiles seven “habitat heroes” who have used native plants to fill their yards and interviews entomologist Douglas Tallamy who speaks how non-native plants can lead to habitat and species loss. The goal is to inspire our audience to become habitat heroes by providing habitat for our own native wildlife.
Light refreshments will be provided but this will be a waste-free event so please bring your own bowls and cups.(This documentary film has a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes)
