Reading Program Registration
How does summer reading work this year?
Register online and enter for raffle prizes, and then pick up your goody bag at either library.
Starting June 17th read at least 60 minutes per week and mark it in your reading log. Show the log to a librarian at either DRML or JTL and you can pick a prize from the treasure box! You may visit the treasure box one time per calendar week .
Bonus community prize: if we can all read 550 hours this summer DRML will host Cosmic Bowling in the library in the fall!

Ongoing Throughout the Summer
Community Story Time
Tuesdays at 10:30pm on the back lawn of the library when it is nice, or in the story corner when it is not. A baby focused story time where you can meet other parents, caregivers and little ones! We will play finger games, do lap bounces, sing, dance, and read a story or two. No registration necessary.
Story Walk®
Starting at the end of the sidewalk on the right side of the building and wrapping around the edge of the field. Look for a new story almost every month, or reread great stories on each visit.
Beanstack
Readers of all ages across Vermont are invited to participate in the 2022 Vermont Summer Reading Challenge, available from June 1 to August 31 at vermont.beanstack.org! Read or listen to any book and track minutes using the Beanstack web or mobile app. You can help young children participate by tracking minutes when reading to or with them. Log minutes and complete activities to earn digital badges. Collect 10 badges to complete the challenge!
Visit DRML and JTL at the Jericho Farmers’ Market – Starting 6/22
DRML and JTL will be taking turns at the farmers market again this summer. We will have book giveaways, some games, probably bubbles, and a lot of fun. See you there!

Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) Raptors: Inspiring Conservation and Summer Program Kickoff! Saturday, June 17th at 11am [all ages]
Let’s officially start the summer with our friends from VINS! They will bring live animals and help us understand how we are all connected, and what we can do to protect the magnificent animals that live here. While you’re here, register for the summer program and pick up your goody bag!
Pride Buttons – Saturday, June 3rd from 10 to 12. [all ages]
Happy Pride month! Drop by and use our button maker to create pins, magnets and keychains that show your pride and allyship.
Nintendo Switch – Thursday, June 8th from 3 to 4:30pm [ages 8+]
Challenge someone to a Nintendo Sports basketball match, race around in Mario Kart, or see if your friendship can stand the test of Mario Party. No registration necessary, just come on by.
LEGO Club – Fridays, June 9th and 23rd from 3 to 4pm [ages 6+]

Jericho Families in Nature Walk – Sunday, June 11th at 10am. Meet at the Old Red Mill trails [all ages]
Join us on a JFiN (Jericho Families in Nature), a facilitated walk for families and communal connection with nature. Expect nature to flood your senses with exquisite detail and unimaginable mysteries. The key to this fabulous portal is foremost to stop, look, and listen with no agenda, and to enter into alien worlds waiting to be discovered by you. Microscope Magic – Thursday, June 15th from 3 to 4pm [all ages]
Let’s explore the little things that hold our world together. We will take a walk around the library and pick up things from nature, then we will learn how to mount a slide and use a microscope for a really up close look at what we collected. No registration necessary.
Kindness Rocks – Wednesday, June 21st from 3 to 4pm [all ages]
Drop in and paint a kind message on a stone, and then keep it, or pass it on and put a little more kindness out in the world. No registration necessary.
Family Movie Night – Saturday, June 24th from 7 to 8:30pm [all ages]
Bring your family and get comfy cozy while we watch Luca, a movie about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides.
Animation Camp – Monday June 26th to Friday June 30th from 9am to 12 [ages 8+]
Are you ready for another week long animation camp! Whether you’ve been coming to the animation club all year, or this is something new you want to try, you’re all welcome. We will learn about lighting, storyboards, and how to use editing software while we create awesome animations. Friday starting at noon we’ll screen the creations in the Fireplace Room. Embroidery Demonstration – Thursday, July 6th from 10:30 to 12 in the Fireplace Room [all ages]
Stop by and explore the craft of embroidery with members of the Embroiderers Guild of America. They will be distributing handcrafted bookmarks made to match this year’s summer program theme. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
LEGO Club – Fridays July 7th & 21st at 3pm [ages 6+]

Community Quilt – Saturday, July 8th from 10 to 12 [all ages]
It’s time to make a new community quilt, and what better time than this summer? Drop in this Saturday and select pieces to make your house in the quilt. Local quilters will pick it up and sew it all together for us! This will also be available during other craft programs.

Puppetry Camp – Monday, July 10th through Friday July 14th from 9 to 12 [ages 8+]
Make your very own puppets, build a puppet theater, write a show and perform it for your family on Friday at noon! Puppetry camp is always a blast, but space is limited so sign up when you call, email or visit the library.
Junk Band Craft – Tuesday, July 11th from 3 to 4pm [ages 6+]
Transform shoe boxes into guitars, paper tubes into kazoos, or whatever other musical instrument you can think up! When we’re done creating, we’ll make a short recording of our junk band. Please sign up when you call, visit or email the library.
Seed Ball Craft – Wednesday, July 19th 3 – 4pm [ages 6+]
Use some clay, some dirt and a bunch of seeds to craft wildflower seed balls to toss by the wayside and let grow. Let’s make this world a more beautiful place all together.
Very Merry Theatre presents: The Descendents – Thursday, July 20th at noon [all ages]
Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney’s Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films! Our rain location is the Jericho Community Center.
Family Movie Night – Saturday, July 22nd from 7 to 8:30pm [all ages]
Join us for the Disney Pixar classic Wall E, about a centuries-old trash compactor robot that falls in love with a sleek, high-tech android who comes back to Earth looking for signs of life.
Stuffed Animal Sleepover – Tuesday, July 25th [all ages]
Join us for a special stuffed animal story time in the morning, and then leave your fuzzy friends for an overnight at the library. If you can’t come to story time, don’t worry, your stuffy can still come to the sleepover as long as they are dropped off by 12:30pm so they don’t miss any of the fun. Pick them up any time during the week, and don’t forget their goody bag! A photo slideshow will be emailed to participants.
Zines with Diana Dunn – Wednesday, July 26th from 10:30 to noon [ages 8+]

Moon Party – Wednesday, July 26th from 7:30 to 9:30pm [all ages]
Our friends from the Vermont Astronomical Society would like to give you the moon, but she’s stuck in space so we’ll settle for observing it all together. We hope you can come out to moongaze with us. Rain/cloudy weather dates are Thursday 7/27 or Friday 7/28 at the same time.
Maker Day: Cricut Stickers – Thursday, July 27th from 3 to 4:30pm

Drop in and learn how to make friendship bracelets to share with your besties, or teach us how to make a bracelet in your style. No registration necessary, we have plenty of string for this craft, and we hope to see you there.
Makey Makey – Wednesday, August 9th from 3 to 4:30pm [ages 8+]
Learn all about simple circuits and electronics with Makey Makey! Turn a bouquet of flowers into a piano, or some cardboard and paper clips into a game controller. Sign up when you call, email or stop by the library.
Maker Days: Button Machine – Thursday, August 10th from 10 to 12 [all ages]
We’ll be set up in the kids’ room with the button machine ready for you to create pins, magnets or keychains from cool pictures in magazines, or something you draw yourself. It’s quick, easy and each participant can make up to 3 items! No registration necessary, just drop in.
Cancelled: Bug Hotel Craft – Wednesday, August 16th from 3 to 4 pm [ages 6+]
Use recycled and natural materials to create a cozy living space for the beneficial bugs in your yard! Please sign up when you call, visit or email the library.

Can you believe summer is pretty much over! Neither can we. You all did such a great job, so come and celebrate yourselves and all the people who help our community run.
