The 2016 Vermont Reads selection is The Endurance: Shackleton’s Legendary Antarctic Expedition by Caroline Alexander. Exactly one hundred years ago, Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance, was imprisoned and crushed by sea ice near Antarctica. It nearly cost his crew their lives, but all 28 of them would survive. Theirs is one of the greatest adventure and survival stories of the twentieth century. We are planning a dramatic reading of selections from this work on December 12th. There are multiple copies of the book available at Deborah Rawson Memorial. Please stop in to pick up a copy and decide if you would like to be part of a dramatic reading of this work, or simply interested in reading it and coming to a program after which we will discuss our impressions of the exciting tale. Please call 899-4962 for details on how you can be involved, or stop in for the informational meeting on Tuesday, December 6th at 6:30.
