The library’s parking lot has two accessible spaces adjacent to a curb cut providing ease-of-access to the library entrance. The building is one floor on ground level.
To enter the building, there is an outer door that has a metal push down handle that then pulls out. The inner door has a metal rod handle that pulls open. If either of these doors present a challenge, please feel free to call the front desk (802-899-4962) for assistance.
As you move further into the building, the first hallway on your right leads to the bathrooms. The bathrooms are all gender, single-stall rooms, with two metal-rod handholds at the toilet, with a standard height sink, and a turn lock on the door.
Past the first bathroom is a door to the program room that is typically closed. It is opened when there are programs there. There is a second bathroom just inside this room on the right, and the bathroom has a baby changing table.
The bookshelves in the library are spaced at least three feet apart to keep the area wheelchair accessible.
Our collection includes large print books and audio books. We have one children’s Braille book.
The Vermont Department of Libraries ABLE Library is a free talking book and braille library service for people in the state of Vermont who are blind and visually impaired, and who have a physical or reading disability that stops them from being able to read standard print. You can access their resources online, at the link above.
ADA defined service animals are welcome in the library.
If you have any questions or concerns about accessibility at Deborah Rawson Memorial Library, please call us at 802-899-4962 or email [email protected].
