Homecard System

The Homecard System is a county-wide cooperative library system, which has served Chittenden County library patrons since 1991. All residents of Jericho and Underhill are eligible to receive Homecard borrowing privileges. This allows residents to borrow materials from the Deborah Rawson Library, as well as from 29 other area libraries. There are some guidelines and policies related to overdue status that residents must follow to maintain their homecard borrowing privileges. The Library is ultimately responsible if the Library has amassed charges of $300.

Guidelines:

  • Library patrons must be in good standing (no overdue materials or outstanding fines) and have a valid library card.
  • Fines may be charged according to the policy of the “lending library.”
  • Patrons must return materials to the library from which they originally borrowed them.

Overdue Policies:

  • Titles become overdue at the discretion of the “lending library.” Patrons must visit or call the library from which they borrowed an item to find out if it can be renewed.
  • The Deborah Rawson Library (DRML) is responsible for sending overdue notices to Jericho and Underhill library patrons.
  • If patrons do not return the items they borrowed from another library they will be suspended and lose library privileges at the Deborah Rawson Library and all homecard libraries.
  • Patrons are reinstated when the item is returned or when the patron pays for the lost item.
  • If a patron has been placed on the Deborah Rawson Memorial Library’s suspension list three times within a twelve-month period for overdues from homecard libraries, that patron will lose homecard privileges and will be restricted to DRML use for the period of one suspension free year.
  • Patrons with ten or more overdues from homecard libraries will be immediately suspended.

The Deborah Rawson Memorial Library hopes to continue to offer homecard privileges to all Jericho and Underhill residents. The success of the homecard system depends on patrons using it responsibly. We urge you to return your materials on time. Thank you.
